Borrow what you need.
Owning stuff is great, but owning stuff you only use from time to time, or maybe just once, makes no sense at all. ALoT has over 1600 tools covering everything from home DIY to gardening, cooking and sewing. Borrowing from us costs a fraction of what you’d pay using commercial options, and frees up space at home for the things you really need.
Sustainability
We all know the Earth is facing a few challenges. Making stuff uses-up limited resources, and produces greenhouse emissions and waste at every level of consumption. Sharing items such as tools and other consumer goods directly reduces the imapct of these products and their associated activities. From a waste minimisation perspective, this is what we call working at the top of the “waste heirarchy”. In other words, twenty people sharing a drill is better than twenty people owning 20 drills. And sure, maybe you do need to own that drill, but do you need to own a large chipper, an engine hoist, a bubble machine and a plasterboard lifter?
Consumerism encourages us, as individuals, to buy, own, and grow our material possessions. At ALoT, we know there’s a better way!
